The staff is excellent co-operating here, the services are nice, and location is ideal just off Gran Via and town- great bakeries, cocktail and brunch places and cafe. The room is well-equipped and beautifully decorated with air-conditioning. There is a variety of supplies like : central heating, an individual safe, and multi-channel television. Thanks for the stay - would have extended the stay...

We chose this hotel just because of the price and location. Eur 40 for a double room with private bathroom.
The location is near Tribunal Metro station. Should be convenient but at the same time, very noisy at night. We stayed there on Fri night. The party noise till early morning that you cannot sleep at all. Private bathroom means a shower space in your room which is separated from the toilet.

Malasana is clean and comfortable. Staff speak English. Excelent location; less than 5 min walk to Tribunal metro station and 15 min walk to city centre (Sol). Good value for money. Wi Fi not available in all rooms but can access in common room. Also two computers available. Small kitchen available for preparing meals. Local supermarkets nearby and plenty of cafe and restaurants close to hostel.
No airconditioning, but had fans in room.

I stayed at this hostel for 4 days with my best friend and we had a wonderful time here. The hostel is perfect is you are looking for a cheap place to stay near the city center. The staff is very friendly and helpful at any time in all situations. The room in which we stayed was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We also had a bathroom and a TV. The hostel is very quiet and welcoming, we also had breakfast included. We recommend this hostel mostly to young people and travelers. Me and my friend are quite picky, but we will definitely return here in our next trip to Madrid. So, enjoy your stay!
The only disturbing thing about this hostel was the smell in the hallway of the building, before entering the reception, but this is because there is a fish store right next to it.

The bagno is inside the room, not very convenient.

I actually thought I made the reservation for Hostel One Malasana, but was gladly surprised because this hostel had a one bedroom with my own bathroom. It was clean, and just perfect for my needs. And the price was right! The only thing is that the wifi was only in one room, which is fine except I could not connect to it for the life of me. I also like that the location was closer to things than the one I thought I was going to!
The wifi difficulties, and they needed a little more information about the city. The other hostel I thought I was going to, had a lot of information and maps about the city. It was through that information that I got a walking tour and knew where the museums were. They didn't really provide that at Hostel Malasana.

The things which one can like about this hostel is its location just a few streets from Tribunal Metro or about 800 m - 1 km from Noviciado metro. Obviously the price is very cheap too, but minimal services and barely there ameneties explain it.
I stayed in a single room with ensuite bathroom. Room wasnt the cleanest but wasnt very dirty either, it is small, no doubt the the lack of any ventilation ( a tiny window with no view facing another apartment) makes you stuffy and clingy, there was only a dim yellow light in my room which gave it a very gloomy feel, sheets etc are gray and totally spartan walls etc makes it a little depressing. The guy at the reception, though friendly doesnt understand any english, which is frustrating, and he was mostly there on duty during my stay, the other receptionist, a female does speak some english. The shared kitchen is dirty. There is no lift in the hostel, so like me who had heavy and a lot of luggage, it was a task to hull the luggage all the way up. If price (20Euro a night), is set aside, there is no reason why someone should book this place, though not out rightly bad or dirty, it has no character / fun element.

1. Easy access to the city center (by metro) 2. The room was clean. 3. English speaking personnel.
1. The area is which the hotel is located is quire old, dirty and smelly. 2. The room itself was smelling with street's smells when we entered it. 3. The room is quite small (room for 2 people with private bathroom) 4. The shower cabin in the bathroom is incredibly small and uncomfortable (but clean). I have never seen such a small cabin in my life. Having weight 60 kg and height 164 cm, I could not move and turn there and almost could not raise my hands. Not talking about my husband. After such evening shower I was terrified only about a thought or repeating this experience in the morning. We had to leave in 3-4 more hotels in Spain (not in Madrid) after this one. And the first thing we started checking when entering the room was the bathroom :) I cannot even imagine how this shower can be used in hot summer days. I can recommend this hotel only to people who really do not care about the latest mentioned point, because otherwise it is really a torture even for undemanding travelers.
